The June property auction saw another packed room and competitive bidding as the current rising trend in popularity for buyers and investors to buy and sell via the auction route grows.

Highly competitive bidding drove up prices meaning some properties went for well above the guide price. One property in Skirlaugh went for £30,000 above guide and a house in Sutton went for £25,000 above guide, proving the auction room is a deliverable route for selling at the best price.

Auction House Hull & East Yorkshire is part of the UK’s largest property auctioneer network, Auction House, who are reporting an encouraging first half of 2018 with cumulative results more than 6% ahead of 2017. This brings the group’s results since the start of the year to 1,358 lots sold from 1,830 offered – a success rate of 74% - and raising more than £173m in the process.

“We are operating in uncertain times. The winds of change are often seen first in auction rooms, and the reality is that vendor expectations may need to soften if we are to deliver the required results."

“The northern half of the country seems to be bearing up better than the southern half - but rather than being only for traders and regular investors, auctions are now open to all buyers. So we see opportunities on the horizon for shrewd buyers to pick up some bargains in the next few months. The message for sellers is that auctions are the fastest way to sell properties and land.”
